Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson Predictions

by Michael David SmithDan HendersonAfter a February show that kicked off the Heavyweight Grand Prix in style, Strikeforce will do its best on Saturday night to keep the momentum going despite a long delay before the next Grand Prix fight. And the man they'll count on to help them keep the momentum going is the most prominent non-heavyweight the promotion has ever signed: Dan Henderson.

Henderson, whose signing was heralded as a major coup for Strikeforce in 2009, will now fight for the promotion's light heavyweight title after falling short of earning the middleweight belt a year ago. Although Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante is the champion, Henderson is the undisputed main draw on Saturday night's four-fight Showtime card, which we'll preview here.

What: Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson

When: Saturday, the live Showtime card begins at 10 PM ET.

Where: Nationwide Arena, Columbus

Predictions on the four televised fights below.

UFC on Versus 3 Live Blog: Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Weidman Updates

Filed under:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - This is the UFC on Versus 3 live blog for Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Weidman, a middleweight main-card bout at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville, Ky.

Sakara (15-7, 1 NC, 6-4, 1 NC UFC), who trains at American Top Team, comes into the bout with a three-fight winning streak. He knocked out James Irvin last March at the UFC's first Live on Versus card. Sakara has been on the shelf for nearly a year, despite several booked bouts, due to his father's death, an injury and a bad case of the flu at UFC 122 in November.

Weidman (4-0) is Sakara's third opponent for the card - Maiquel Falcao and Rafael Natal both pulled out with injuries. An All-American wrestler at Hofstra, Weidman trains with former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra in New York and is Ring of Combat's middleweight champion.

UFC 127: Ross Pearson Beats Spencer Fisher

by Michael David SmithRoss Pearson beats Spencer Fisher at UFC 127.Ross Pearson earned a hard-fought unanimous decision win over Spencer Fisher at UFC 127.

The fight featured 15 minutes of back-and-forth action, and it was close enough (especially in the first two rounds) that the fight was in doubt until the judges' scorecards were announced. But Pearson deserved the decision he got, 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.

Pearson, the former Ultimate Fighter winner, fought evenly with Fisher in the stand-up in the first couple of rounds. But in the third Pearson really started to take control, finding his range in the striking and ending the fight on the ground on top of Fisher.
